Awareness related to E-waste
Hello guys, today I am going to tell you something about most important topic that is E-waste or electronic waste.
I am an student of engineering doing btech in electronic and communication. I love to do electronic stuffs and making new things, using new sensors and lots of more things. But when I got acknowledge with the waste produced by these electronic things, I was shocked. And I think all people should aware about these things. E-waste is the waste which can't be disposed easily by the nature.
When I studied more about E-waste then I came to know more things about it. So I decide to share it with you guys and want your opinion on this topic.
For those who don't know about E-waste, I want to tell them that it is waste created by electronic products or goods. The main source of E-waste is the Smart phones. It is the major cause of E-waste in the world. Currently in India, there are more than 1.1 billion mobile users. Except mobiles, there are many other things such as laptops, personal computer, and other computer accessories.
These electronic devices contain material which produces very harmful gases on disposing them and some material are impossible to dispose. All electronics device contain PCB boards which can't be reused for other device. Today we all are surrounded with a lots of electronic devices such as television, phones, digital watches, and many more.
In the US alone, more than 100 million computers are thrown away with less than 20% being recycled properly. The EPA estimates as much as 60 million metric tons enter landfills every year. Most electronics that are improperly thrown away contain some form of harmful materials such as beryllium, cadmium, mercury and lead. These materials might be trace elements, but when added up in volume, the threat to the environment is significant. Besides adding harmful elements to the environment, improper disposal of e-waste is a recycling opportunity lost. Almost all electronic waste contains some form of recyclable material, including plastic, glass and metals.
E-Waste is growing exponentially because global consumer demand continues to increase. As many parts of our expanding world cross over to the other side of the ‘Digital Divide’, the contemporary consumer demands the means to enjoy an easier more comfortable lifestyle. But that very understandable demand creates a downstream problem of safe disposability. The demand is irresistible so the need for a solution becomes ever more urgent.
It is a global concerns which everyone should know it. It is our duty to find a better a way to manage these waste instead of dumping it in landfills. There are many companies which are recycling these waste and extracting useful components from it. We should try to make reuse of these electronic goods until they become a proper waste.
I request you to share awareness related to E-waste and give me some idea by which we can reduce these E-waste. Please comment down some ideas or suggestions below and share it more and more with your friends and relatives.
