Armor design for battlebot
Hello guys, I hope you all are well. Today I am going to tell you about the armor which you need for the defence of your battlebot.
Armor is used to protect your battlebots from getting damages from other battlebots. It helps to protect the internal system of the battlebot while defending your bots from others.
There are basically three types of armor. I am going to define all types of armored.
1. Traditional Armor: Traditional Armor plates are usually made out of very tough and hard materials that try to absorb and transmit the impact energy without getting damaged. The high hardness of the armor plate are used to break up or flatten sharp edges from the opponent weapon while it's toughness allow the plates to withstand the blow without breaking. Due to their high hardness, traditional armor need to be changed less often. However they transmit a lot of energy to the rest of the robot structure which can affect the robot.
2. Ablative Armor: Ablative armor plates on the other hand are designed to negate damage by themselves being damaged or destroyed by the process of ablation, which is the process of removal of material from the surface of an object by vaporisation or by chipping. They are also made out of tough material , but with low hardness and low melting point to facilitate the ablation process.
Ablative armor plates are much more efficient dissipating the impact energy which is mostly absorbed by the ablation process, transmitting much less energy to the rest of the robot structure. They are a good choice especially against blunt or not so sharp horizontal spinners. A disadvantage of ablative armor is that they need to be changed very often because of the ablation.
3. Reactive Armor: The third armor type is reactive. Such armor react in some way to the impact of a weapon to prevent damage. Most of them are very effective against projectiles which have relatively low mass and extremely high speeds. Thus these types of armor gives reaction when they get damages which could damage other bots easily.
This is all for today's blog. Next blog is coming soon so wait for it and I am going to give more blog in this month. Also I am going to post some project work which you can try to do at your place easily. For that you have follow me and my blogs and stay tuned for something big in June. My next blog is based on the driving system of battlebot. Don't forget to check my previous blogs, I am providing it's link below.
