About the first Robot Citizen
Today I am going to share everything about the first ever robot who got its citizenship in Saudi Arabia. This robots name is Sophia. Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics. Sophia was activated on April 19, 2015 and made her first public appearance at South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) in mid-March 2016 in Austin, Texas, United States.
In October 2017, the robot became a Saudi Arabian citizen, the first robot to receive citizenship of any country. In November 2017, Sophia was named the United Nations Development Programme's first ever Innovation Champion, and the first non-human to be given any United Nations title.
Sophia was created by Hanson Robotics in collaboration with AI developers, including Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc, who built her voice recognition system, and SingularityNET, which powers her brain.
Recently Sophia visited in the most famous institute of India ie. IIT Bombay. She represented herself in the front of over 3000 crowd. She also get involved in debate. After few questions with her , she starts facing some technical problem due to which she stops giving answers. Then after few hours she gets ready another time to give answer.
In January 2018, Facebook's director of artificial intelligence, Yann LeCun, tweeted that Sophia was "complete bullshit" and slammed the media for giving coverage to "Potemkin AI". In response, Goertzel stated that he had never pretended Sophia was close to human-level intelligence.
But we can't consider Sophia as a complete artificial intelligence robot . It can be a small milestone for human being toward pure artificial intelligence robot.
